Common questions
Answers before you request a consultation
Is a “study visa” the same as a study permit?
They are not the same document. A study permit authorizes study in Canada. Depending on nationality, IRCC may also issue the travel document needed to travel to Canada.
Do all study permit applicants need a PAL or TAL?
Many applicants need a provincial or territorial attestation letter, but exemptions exist. Current IRCC instructions and the applicant’s situation should be checked.
Does a school acceptance letter guarantee a study permit?
No. A letter of acceptance is important, but an officer considers the full application, including eligibility, finances, purpose of study and admissibility.
Can UW guarantee approval or a post-graduation work permit?
No. Study and post-graduation options depend on current program rules, the institution, the program and the individual’s compliance and facts.
